 Noise and Festivals

I am part of whatsapp groups of couple of societies and many other groups of family  and friends. I keep reading all these mssages for some time about loud noise of practice sessions of dhol tasha pathaks in each society and many members raise complaints about noise.

In many cases once the practice session of one team finshes, immediately another team starts practising from different direction. The societies surrounded by other societies and crowded area are vulnerable to this huge noise polution and feel helpless. I know few of my relatives literally takeleaves during festive seasons of processions and travel to some quiet place nearby for couple of days.

I think it is high time we need to rethink about the connection of any celebrations and high noise.

Does making only high noise can give us happiness? What is the purpose of the holidays? Praying for bhagwan Ganesha or Devi Maa or celebrating with each other with colors etc is expected during these festivals. Where does this sound and noise come into picture?

Does any of our ved - Puran talk about making noise? If arati happens, it happens for maximum 30 min to one hour. If garba or dandiya happens it happens for say 1 -2 hrs. Is it said somewhere that garba or dandiya has to be played on loud speakers?

We have technology at hand.  If we have closed halls, it is wise to use it or if we have large open grounds we can use loud speakers.However, in closed societies?? Is it really wise?

We don't care about patients, we don't care about aged people, infants, pets, pregnant women. We don't care even about people working from home. It is not our agenda of empathy for whom we need to show empathy the most. Then who do we celebrate these festivals for? If so many people are wishing for your festivals to get over asap so that they can live peacefully, then is it for the betterment of mankind? 

Lokmanya Tilak started these festivals to unite people, but every few days a new festival and new highs of decibal levels are establishing. It is actually dividing people and taking new generation away from this show business.

Kindly request all, can we please rethink about why in first place we have these festivals? We should arrange lectures of learned people for knowing the scripts, knowing history behind the festivals, arrange quizes for new generation about festivals, or ask about culture related basic questions on why and what, part of the festival. 

How many  of us can tell how many "Patri s " are used for Gansh pooja and what is the significance and use of each plant? Does our kids know about it?  Arrange kirtan and pravachan on various rituals, festivals, and let the people know the background of festival. Earlier days after every pooja there used to be "kahani/katha" to know the background of the pooja 

and every member of the house used to gather for the katha. If we have to practice something for two months, make sure everyone knows correct words and rhythm of arati, learn some suktas together, use this time for reciting and memorising geeta adhyays, if not done already, recite Atharvasheersha and mke sure all kids in,society can recite it together wih right pronouciation. During festival days make sure we can explain meaning of the suktas and Atharvasheersha too.

It is good sign that we are movig towards sustainable Ganesh pooja and homemade idol or recycling the soil. Still we can avoid large idols being immersed in the waterbodies. We can make use of preparatiin days to plant Patris /medicinal and pious plants near and around society. Giving a list of patri for reference. 

The number 21 holds great significance in Ganesh puja, and the authentic patris consist of leaves from Terminalia arjuna (Arjun), Sesbania grandiflora (Agati), Achyranthes Aspera (Prickly Chaff Flower), Nerium Indicum (Oleander), Pandanus odoratissimus (Kewda), Jasminum auriculatum (Juhi), Punica granatum (Pomegranate), Solanum indicum (Indian nightshade), Cynodon dactylon (Bermuda grass), Cedrus deodara (Deodar), Ocimum sanctum (Holy basil), Datura innoxia (Datura), Ficus religiosa (Holy Ficus), Aegle marmelos (Bel), Ziziphus mauritiana (Ber), Origanum majorana (Marjoram), Eclipta erecta (False Daisy), Jasminum sambac, Evolvulus alsinoides, Calotropis procera (Rubber bush), and Prosopis spicigera (Khejri tree).

Hence, coming back to noise. We should have only traditional instruments like Dhol Tasha,  Halgi, Sambal, Lezim in Ganesh Festival. That too in limited number. Based on open area, how much voice and noise will be collectively produced has to be considered, DJ must be banned.

In my humble opinion, if we are celebrating at the cost of peace, health and career of so many factors in society then we may have to rethink about why we are celebrating in first place. 

It is hightime we need to change the ways of celbrating festivals as we are a "parivartanshil" society and dharma.

 हिंदू नामशेष होतोय का?

सध्या एक लेख खूप फिरतोय कि पन्नास वर्षात हिंदू नामशेष होतील. अर्थात ह्या अर्थाचे बरेच लेख आता येत आहेत व लोकांना जाणीवा होत आहे की अमुक तमुक तर त्यांच्या धर्मग्रंथात च सांगितले आहे. व त्यांचा समाज अपरिवर्तनशील आहे, त्यामुळे आपले काही खरे नाही. बर्याच वेळेला शेवटी रोख दिसतो की आता एकच राष्ट्रपुरुष यातून आपल्याला वाचवू शकेल. वरील उल्लेख केलेला लेख त्याच धर्तीचा आहे.

 लेख योग्य मात्र उपाय योजना खूप खिळखिळी आहे. एक राष्ट्रपुरूष या एकाच कल्पने व्यतिरिक्त दुसरा उपाय देखील सुचवलेला नाही.

मोदी सांगतील थाळ्या वाजवा, तुम्ही वाजवाल. मोदी सांगतील मी अमुक कायदा करीन, तुम्ही मान डोलवाल, पुढे काय?

मी स्वतः काय करायला हवे याची योजनाच नाही. मुसलमान काय करतात याचा दांडगा अभ्यास आहे. मी रोज गीता वाचावी का? मी पण दहा पोरे जन्माला घालावीत का? मी चार मुले जन्माला घालून त्यातील दोन compulsory सैन्यात पाठवावी का? मी जागोजागी सभा घेऊन हिंदूना गोळा करावे व पोरांना कामधंदे उभारण्याचे प्रशिक्षण द्यावे का? माझ्या आजूबाजूला घडणार्या प्रत्येक गोष्टींमधून समाजबांधणी व कार्यमग्नता व त्यासाठी लागणारे कौशल्य उभे करावे का? आणि कसे? इथे गणेशोत्सवातील हार, फुले, फळे व सजावटीचे सामान पण मुसलमान लोक विकत आहेत व पैसा कमवत आहेत. पण हिंदू पोरांना या सणांचा देखील उपयोग करून परमार्था बरोबर   चरितार्थाचे काय काय उपाय करता येतील यावर विचार करण्यात रस नाही किंवा कोणी त्या दृष्टीने पुढाकार घेत नाही. सगळा भर मोठमोठे ढोल ताशे किंवा डाॕल्बी च्या भिंती बांधून अमाप कानठळ्या बसणारा आवाज करणे व वेडेवाकडे अंगविक्षेप करत नाचणे, यावरच दिसतो. 

समाजाला धर्म हवा आहे पण त्याच बरोबर अर्थार्जन, दळणवळण, अन्नधान्य, व्यापार, रोजगार ही हवा आहे. हे सर्व करण्यासाठी team हवी. ती टीम प्रत्येक स्तरावर कार्यरत हवी व हे विचार एक समान प्रसारीत करणारी हवी. त्या साठी मात्र एकटे मोदी कुठे पुरे पडणार?

निष्क्रिय व समाज विभागणार्या माणसांना राज्यस्तरीय नेतृत्व, गणेशोत्सव सारख्या कार्यक्रमांसाठी दोन तीन महिने तयारी च्या नावाखाली ध्वनी प्रदूषण व पुढे रस्त्यांची नासधूस, आणि मग गणेशोत्सवाला परवानगी दिली तर इतरांना का नको ह्या नावाखाली टिळक जयंती किंवा त्याऐवजी अण्णाभाऊ साठे जयंती, आंबेडकर जयंती, दहीहंडी व इतर सतराशे साठ उत्सवात नाचणारी प्रजा तयार करणे व त्यातच धन्यता मानणे, अजानच्या भोंग्याचा सर्वांना त्रास होतोच. मात्र ते जेव्हा प्रतिप्रश्न करतात की तुमच्या उत्सवात रात्रंदिवस लाऊड स्पीकर लागतात तेव्हा त्रास होत नाही का तर आपल्या कडे उत्तर नसते. आपण कामधाम सोडून वेडेवाकडे नाचणारी प्रजा तयार करत आहोत व त्यांचा सतरंज्या उचलायला व सर्वच पार्ट्यांना फंड गोळा करायला उपयोग होतो म्हणून तेरी भी चूप मेरी भी चूप. लोकमान्य टिळकांनी त्याकाळी गणेशोत्सव सुरु केला कारण अख्खा गाव एकत्र करायचा होता. पण तुम्ही तर गल्लोगल्ली गणपती बसवून गावाचे सतराशे साठ तुकडे व प्रदुषणच केले राव!! मग हा गणेशोत्सव ह्याच स्वरुपात करत रहायचा कि तो आता बदलायला हवा? 

प्रजा रस्त्यातील खड्ड्यांमुळे गांजली आहे. वर्षानुवर्षे चालणाऱ्या मेट्रो व फ्लाय ओव्हरच्या कामांनी गांजली आहे. आपला टॕक्स चा पैसा लाडक्या बहिणी आणि दोडक्या भावांवर उधळताना पाहून चिडली आहे, हताश झाली आहे. राज्यात फक्त फोडा आणि राज्य करा असल्या किडक्या मनोवृत्ती च्या राज्यकर्त्यांची चलती आहे. 

विरोधात असणार्या एकेक हिंदू नेत्याच्या नावाने शंख करत त्यांचे अमुक व त्यांचे तमुक  करत त्यांच्या खिडकीतून डोकावून डोकावून टीकास्त्र सोडत आहेत, म्हणजे एकेकटे गाठा व मारा ही रणनीती आहे. ते असे म्हटले, त्यांनी अमुक तमुक चा निषेध केला नाही, त्यांनी तमुक तमुकला नावे ठेवली. एक ना दोन. 

मात्र कुठल्याही मुसलमान नेत्याच्या नावानिशी त्यांनी अमुक तमुक केले आहे, त्यांचा विरोध करा ही भाषा नाही. का? त्यांची नावे घेताना भिती वाटते? तोरसेकर आणि आनंद देवधर कुठल्याही मुसलमान नेत्यांविषयी नावांनिशी चिरफाड करणारे व्हिडियो व ब्लाॕग टाकताना दिसत नाहीत. का?असे वाटते, त्यांना हिंदूंना एकजूट करण्यात नाही तर त्यांच्या मधे फूट पाडण्यात जास्त स्वारस्य आहे. 

शोधा ना परकीय!! करा त्यांची नावांनिशी चिरफाड. परदेशातील सोरोस पेक्षा देशातील जे मुल्ला मौलवी जे चिथवत आहेत त्यांचे नावानिशी सार्वजनिक निषेध करून दाखवा. ती हिम्मत नाही आपल्या मधे. करा बंगाल च्या घटनेचा विरोध. करा बांग्लादेशातील क्रौर्याचा निषेध. उतरा एकजुटीने रस्त्यावर. ते का नाही करत?

मुळात आक्रमण कर्ते तेव्हा ही येतच होते. आजही आहेत. अशावेळी शाळेपासून दुसऱ्या शी दोन हात करण्याचे प्रशिक्षण आपण देतो का? की फक्त गणपतीच्या मिरवणूकीत दांडपट्ट्याचे प्रात्यक्षिक पाहून टाळ्या वाजवल्या की संपली मर्दुमकी? एकाने एक कानाखाली वाजवली तर त्याच्या कानाखाली दोन देण्याची हिंमत आपल्या मुलांमधे आहे का? मुलींमधे आहे का?अहमद महमद च्या गिफ्टस ना न भुलता व नंतर 35 तुकड्यात पाठवणीची वेळ न आणता त्याला वेळीच दोन लगावण्याची हिंमत आपल्या मुलींमधे आहे का? मुळात एक मुलगा शाळेत जाताना माझ्या मागेमागे रोज येतोय हे वेळीच मुलींनी आपल्या आईवडिलांना, भावाबहिणींना सांगण्याची हिंमत व वातावरण किती घरात आहे?

अनेक प्रश्न आहेत. ज्यावर सोल्युशन हवे आहे. एकेकट्या मुस्लिम culprits च्या विरूद्ध  नावानिशी रान उठवायला हवे, जनमत गोळाकरून रस्त्यावर उतरायला हवे. त्याऐवजी "अख्खा मुस्लिम समाज" असे मोघम वार केले तर तो कोणावरच बसणार नाही.  When everybody thinks somebody should do it then nobody does it.

त्यामुळे टीम्सची फळी निर्माण व्हायला हवी. अकेले एक राष्ट्र पुरुष क्या करेंगे?

सैनिक लढताना फक्त त्याच्या कमांडर ची आज्ञा मानतो व तो त्याच्या बाॕसची.  प्रत्येक जण सैन्यप्रमुखाच्या आज्ञेची वाट पहात नाही की राष्ट्रपतींची. जरी त्यांची पदे सर्वोच्च असली तरी ती सामान्य सैनिकापर्यंत पोहोचवायला multiple layers ची, अनेक स्तरीय नेतृत्व रचना असायला हवी, जी सद्ध्या मुल्ला मौलवींकडे आहे पण आपल्याकडे नाही. Root cause analysis करून त्यावर काम करायला हवे. असे काही उपाय त्यांच्या लेखात असते तर ते अधिक परिणामकारक ठरले असते.
